Born into the Tse'khene Nation in the late sixties and introduced to Cree culture in the mid 1980s, I began my journey to Christ at the age of four. Upon my full adoption into the family of Christ in 2000, I was told I would have to give up my Native ways. Something in my heart ached, because I knew that I was created in the image of God and set within my culture with purpose and intention. This is when my search to discover what of my culture I could keep, what could be contextualized, and what I would need to walk away from altogether. Creator loves my culture as much as he loves me.
